Job Summary: You will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components in mining equipment and vehicles. This role ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical systems to support mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems in mining equipment, including haul trucks, excavators, dozers, drills, and other heavy machinery.
- Diagnosis: Identify electrical faults and malfunctions by using diagnostic equipment, testing procedures, and technical manuals.
- Repairs and Maintenance: Perform electrical repairs, maintenance, and upgrades on mining equipment, ensuring all components function correctly and safely.
- Wiring and Installation: Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring and components, including lights, alternators, batteries, starters, and electronic control systems.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and repair issues with lighting, communication systems, GPS, and other electrical accessories in vehicles and machinery.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and best practices to prevent accidents and hazards.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections for all equipment, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance and technical teams to coordinate equipment repairs and minimize downtime.
- Parts and Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of electrical components and parts, order replacements as needed, and keep track of spare parts.
Qualifications: - Minimum of two years’ experience working in the mining and heavy earthmoving industry
- Trade Quaified
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining or heavy equipment industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong Safety Focus
- Strong work ethic
Essential: - Relevant Trade qualifications – Certificate III
- Class C Drivers License
- Coal Board Medical
- Standard 11 SOA
