Alpha Tradie, a new platform to help tradies building a business

Sam Ackland, whose company, Build Clean, was founded in 2018 and has since expanded to include locations in Queensland and Victoria, expressed hope that his new business, Alpha Tradie, will herald in a new era for the trades and services sector. Alpha Tradie, an online interface that went live on July 1st, assists tradespeople wishing to diversify their business skill sets in order to establish a business or extend what they are already doing. The InDaily 40 Under 40 alumnus stated his long-term passion project, Alpha Tradie, aims to give tradies the guidance and assistance they need to strike out on their own and succeed.

The launch of Alpha Tradie comes off the back of Sam’s success with Build Clean, which recently won the APAC Insider 2023 Construction Service of the Year Award. The new platform, according to Ackland, will assist tradesmen in making the transition to starting their own companies. "Everyone has this dream to do a little bit more than what they're doing," he added. "And they go and voice that dream to the only people they've ever voiced dreams to before being their parents, their friends."

Ackland said that Alpha Tradie will offer business management tools focused on strategy, marketing, sales, operations, finance, and people as a "one-off step-by-step blueprint" exclusively for tradies, in contrast to existing business assistance platforms that charge a membership for an ongoing course. When they are owner, operator, or sole proprietors, "we're giving them the templates and frameworks that they need to be able to manage those business departments as a small-to-medium enterprise would," Ackland said.

The price of the starter package is $535, and the whole scale-up system is $3,400, according to the pre-launch website. Ackland stated that he also wants Alpha Tradie to promote healthy masculinity in the trades and services sector in order to combat the toxic masculinity culture that he encounters on a daily basis in the workplace and on the social media platforms that many tradies use.

According to Ackland, there is a lot of pro-toxic masculinity on social media. "We're giving the people business systems, that's what we're doing. I think they'll have the free-flowing energy to be able to provide and show up better for their family and their communities once they've established the foundations for success within their firm.
